Aunque el riesgo de experimentar c\u00e1ncer oral aumenta a partir de los 40 a\u00f1os, en los \u00faltimos tiempos se ha incrementado el n\u00famero de incidencias de esta enfermedad en individuos menores a consecuencia del consumo de alcohol y tabaco, dos de los factores de mayor riesgo. Sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n influyen causas como tener una incorrecta higiene bucodental que fomenta la aparici\u00f3n de placa bacteriana, as\u00ed como irritaciones cr\u00f3nicas en la boca a causa de pr\u00f3tesis dentales, dientes rotos u obturaciones.<\/p>\n

El c\u00e1ncer oral puede aparecer en los labios, la zona lingual, las enc\u00edas o en el propio paladar. La aparici\u00f3n de manchas blancas o rojas suele ser los primeros s\u00edntomas, aunque tambi\u00e9n puede predecirse por hemorragias en la boca o la aparici\u00f3n de \u00falceras que no se curan o molestias al tragar, masticar o hablar. No obstante, en muchas ocasiones la ausencia de s\u00edntomas espec\u00edficos hace que los pacientes no acudan al especialista, lo que hace que m\u00e1s del 50% se les diagnostique estas lesiones cuando est\u00e1n muy avanzadas.<\/p>\n

Por esta raz\u00f3n, el diagn\u00f3stico precoz y, sobre todo, la prevenci\u00f3n son los factores clave para hacer frente a esta patolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Se aconseja tomar las siguientes medidas preventivas:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Realizar mensualmente un auto examen de la boca. El objetivo de este auto examen es percibir cualquier cambio en la cavidad bucal, ya que generalmente el c\u00e1ncer bucal no tiene grandes s\u00edntomas, y su presencia puede pasar inadvertida. Es necesario colocarse frente al espejo y ver la fisonom\u00eda para tratar de advertir cualquier cambio de tama\u00f1o, color o forma en la cara. Este examen debe realizarse en el interior de la cavidad bucal, examinando el dorso y base de la lengua, tocando con los dedos el interior de la boca, cara interna de las mejillas, suelo de la boca, etc. Finalmente es interesante colocar un espejo para observar la regi\u00f3n de las am\u00edgdalas. Lo importante del auto examen es conocer nuestra boca, para que si en alg\u00fan momento surgen alteraciones sepamos reconocerlas y buscar atenci\u00f3n odontol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n

Visitar al dentista cada seis meses para realizarse revisiones periodicas con la finalidad de detectar cualquier patolog\u00eda y tratarla de manera precoz.<\/p>\n

Ante cualquier llaga, \u00falcera o herida en la cavidad bucal que persista m\u00e1s de 15 d\u00edas, acudir inmediatamente a la cl\u00ednica dental, ya que puede ser s\u00edntoma de padecer esta enfermedad.<\/p>\n

Mantener una correcta higiene bucodental para eliminar las posibles bacterias que pueden dar origen a procesos cancerosos. Para ello, es necesario, despu\u00e9s de cada comida, cepillarse los dientes, limpiar la lengua y completar la limpieza con hilo dental.<\/p>\n

Evitar fumar y beber alcohol. Si se tienen estos h\u00e1bitos, que se realicen de manera moderada.<\/p>\n

Mantener una dieta sana y equilibrada basada en frutas, verduras y cereales, ya que se ha comprobado cient\u00edficamente su efecto positivo en la prevenci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer. Evitar el consumo de grasas y alimentos muy condimentados.<\/p>\n

Revisar las pr\u00f3tesis dentales o dentaduras postizas, para que est\u00e9n ajustadas al paladar del paciente. Adem\u00e1s, es necesario mantener la dentadura limpia y ajustada con rebases peri\u00f3dicos para evitar inflamaci\u00f3n e heridas en las enc\u00edas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
